Turf Grass Success with Lot 125®
We recently had a very positive experience with turf grass grown using BioLynceus® Lot 125®.
A client asked us to provide large rolls of sod without using turf netting. Because of the strong root development we had observed in turf treated with Lot 125®, we decided to use that sod for the project.
Strong Root Development for Large-Roll Sod
The project required approximately 55,000 square feet of sod.
Not only were we able to harvest and deliver the large rolls without netting, but the entire project was installed in approximately six hours with no noticeable loss of sod quality.
Producing large-roll sod without turf netting requires dense, well-developed roots that can hold the sod together during harvesting, transportation, and installation.
We believe the strong root structure developed in the Lot 125®-treated turf helped make this project possible.
Five Years of Turf Performance with Lot 125®
During approximately five years of using Lot 125®, we have observed several additional improvements in our turf production.
Earlier Spring Harvest
We have been able to begin harvesting turf approximately 4 to 6 weeks earlier in the spring than other turf farms in our area.
Longer Fall Harvest Season
We have also continued harvesting approximately 3 to 5 weeks later in the fall, after many neighboring farms have stopped because of winter conditions.
Faster Turf Regrowth
Following harvest, treated turf areas have shown faster regrowth compared with untreated areas.
When replanting, we have also observed:
-
Faster seed germination
-
Better grass establishment
-
More uniform turf stands
Stronger Root Systems
Lot 125® has helped us produce turf with a healthy, dense root system.
We believe this stronger root development is one reason we experience very little—and sometimes no—turf loss during the warranty period.
Dense root systems also help the sod remain intact during harvesting and installation.
Lighter, Easier-to-Handle Sod Rolls
Because of the healthier and denser root zone, our sod rolls can be harvested with less excess soil while still maintaining structural strength.
This produces lighter rolls that are easier to handle and install.
The strong root system also helps reduce tearing during installation.
Improved Sod Storage
We have been able to keep harvested sod on pallets for longer periods with less quality loss from heat stress.
Reduced Fertilizer Requirements
Over time, we have been able to reduce our fertilizer program by as much as 25% while continuing to produce high-quality turf.
Improved Performance with Saline Irrigation Water
We also believe Lot 125® helps support turf grown under irrigation conditions with elevated salinity.
By supporting soil health and root-zone conditions, the product has become an important part of our turf management program.
Supporting High-Quality Turf Production
Lot 125® has been a valuable tool in helping us produce strong, healthy, high-quality turf with excellent root development.
The improvements we have observed in harvesting, regrowth, installation, fertilizer efficiency, and overall turf performance have made Lot 125® an important part of our operation.
Thank you for introducing our company to Lot 125®.
